Save Our Lakes!

Runoff pollution threatens 90 percent of Wisconsin’s lakes. And, as we see more and more development along our lakes and waterways, the threat will continue to grow.

Fortunately, there's a common-sense solution that could help keep our lakes safe from one of the most dangerous and most common pollutants: phosphorus. Sign our petition asking your legislator to support an effort to ban phosphorus in fertilizers.

Petition Text

Dear Legislator,

Wisconsin’s lakes are a treasure. Unfortunately, chemicals in lawn fertilizer—particularly phosphorous—have been polluting our lakes, causing massive algae blooms that affect water quality, harm wildlife and prevent people from enjoying activities like fishing and boating.

We need to protect Wisconsin’s lakes for future generations. Several counties in Wisconsin have already banned phosphorous in fertilizer, with impressive results. Please support a statewide ban on phosphorous in fertilizer to protect all of Wisconsin’s lakes.

Sincerely,

Saving national forests

Thanks to our federation’s work, more than 1.5 million citizens nationwide called on the Clinton administration to protect pristine areas in our national forests, resulting in the Roadless Rule. When the Bush administration attempted to overturn the rule, we worked with governors in seven states to petition to protect their forests.
