The report, in a comprehensive review of the latest science, documents current and predicted impacts global warming may have on Wisconsin’s farms, forests, waterways and natural recreation.

One week after Governor Doyle announced his Global Warming Task Force, WISPIRG released a new analysis of state fossil fuel consumption data finding that global warming pollution in Wisconsin increased by 25% between 1990 and 2004. The Carbon Boom, released today by WISPIRG, is the first time that 2004 state-by-state data on carbon dioxide emissions have been released.

Madison, WI – With heightened public awareness of the growing threat from global warming and its potential to drastically alter Wisconsin’s climate, environmental groups today focused their attention on solutions. In a teleconference, the non-partisan environmental advocacy organization Wisconsin Environment released a new report, "A Blueprint for Action: Policy Options to Reduce Wisconsin’s Contribution to Global Warming" and called on the state Legislature to pass the Wisconsin Safe Climate Act (SB81/AB157), a science-based global warming bill.

Milwaukee, WI – Wisconsin Environment congratulates Governor Jim Doyle for hosting the historic Midwestern Governors Association (MGA) Energy Security and Climate Change Summit November 14th and 15th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where ten mid-western states’ governors, including Gov. Doyle as Chair of the MGA, signed a groundbreaking accord to serve as a regional strategy to reduce global warming emissions and promote clean, homegrown renewable energy.

Madison, WI – After accepting testimony at a public hearing September 25th where Senate Bill 81 received significant public support, the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources voted this morning in favor of the bill known as the Wisconsin Safe Climate Act which would reduce global warming emissions in Wisconsin to 1990 levels by 2020.

Madison—The average temperature in Madison was 2.6 degrees F above average in 2006, according to a new report released today by Wisconsin Environment. Wisconsin Environment said this warmer-than-normal weather is indicative of what Wisconsin can expect with continued global warming.
